Curtain Call
What better way to cap off a perfect cruising day, than to take in a spectacular show in one of our beautiful theaters. Enjoy a cocktail or glass of champagne as award-winning entertainers, many with Broadway credits, perform dazzling musical numbers, mind boggling illusions and uproarious comedy. The creative team behind Holland America Line’s shows has more Tony, Emmy, Grammy and Oscar nominations than that of any other cruise line. As a result, our entertainment lineup is always fresh and fabulous.
Depending on the ship and itinerary, after-dinner production shows may be offered both earlier and later in the evening. Please check the daily schedule on your ship for exact times.
At the Movies
Sometimes you’re just in the mood to settle in and watch a good movie. Aboard Holland America Line ships we offer two ways to enjoy the best movie entertainment available. Relax in plush chairs and enjoy fresh popcorn as you watch a feature film in our state-of-the-art movie theater. If you prefer to stay in, select a complimentary must see (or must see again) movie from our extensive Ship Flicks collection and we’ll deliver your movie choice from our catalog of over 1,000 titles right to your stateroom. When you're finished, we’ll pick it up for you and you can order another. If staying in, remember our complimentary 24-hour room service to enhance your movie experience.
On the Veendam and Rotterdam, you may wish to enjoy an evening movie under the stars. As part of our latest Signature of Excellence® enhancements, these ships offer large LED screens on the aft deck and in our new resort style pool area, The Retreat.
Venues
One of the delights of Holland America Line ships is the variety of venues where you can enjoy drinks in the company of friends old and new. Gather in our comfortable, intimate lounges and share stories from the day’s onshore adventures. Have after dinner coffee and cordials surrounded by luxurious furnishings and fine art. Dance the night away in one of our exciting nightclubs or join the scene in our Piano Bar. Whichever location you choose our expert bartenders will remember your preferred cocktail or help you discover a new favorite. Enjoy.
Crow's Nest
Inviting observation lounge by day, dazzling dance club by night – the Crow’s Nest offers a wealth of opportunities for enjoying the camaraderie of your friends and shipmates. With its panoramic views off the bow of the ship you can toast your next port of call as it comes into view, share cocktails as you watch the sun drop over the horizon and in the evening, return to dance the night away while stars twinkle through the windows.
Explorer´s Lounge
Reminiscent of the golden age of cruising, our Explorer’s Lounge is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the intimate luxury of a Holland America Line ship. Serenaded by the gentle sounds of a string quartet, settle into a plush chair with a favorite book and glass of wine or gather with friends to share after dinner drinks surrounded by stunning pieces from our world class art collection.
MIX
Our newest venue, MIX is an open and inviting space located in the heart of the ship featuring piano entertainment and three distinctly themed bars.
The bubbly flows at Champagne, offering a variety of 20 different champagnes and sparkling wines from around the world. Indulge by the flute or by the bottle served in traditional silver buckets. Throughout your cruise delight in unique events such as our late champagne breakfast, pre-lunch Mimosa and Bellini hour, champagne tea time and pre-dinner champagne hour with caviar canapés.
Martinis serves up 19 Grey Goose martinis elegantly offered in individual shakers as well as a full range of cocktails. Try a martini flight made up of several mini martini concoctions or treat yourself to our house specialty: a signature Martini for Two with aged Cognac served with a dish of caviar and traditional garnishes.
At Spirits & Ales choose from an international selection of beers and premium whiskeys and brandies sure to entice even the most selective connoisseur. Drop by to enjoy a wide selection of beers on tap and watch a sporting event or relax after some shopping in the nearby boutiques.
Mix is part of our latest Signature of Excellence upgrades and is available on ms Veendam, ms Statendam, ms Ryndam and ms Rotterdam; MIX will become available on ms Maasdam in 2011.
Northern Lights Disco
Get your groove on and hit the dance floor at this fabulous night spot. Great music, dynamic lighting and friendly bartenders make the Northern Lights Disco a great place to have fun with old and new friends. This nightclub is found on ms Zuiderdam, ms Oosterdam, ms Noordam, ms Westerdam, ms Eurodam and ms Nieuw Amsterdam.
Ocean Bar
Enjoy cocktails and dancing in this luxuriously appointed lounge with views of the sea, intimate tables for two and classic banquettes for larger groups. Providing tunes from the Great American Songbook, The Neptunes - Holland America Line's resident three-piece music combo – create a sultry and sophisticated atmosphere. During the day, take advantage of the Ocean Bar’s dance floor to learn new moves or brush up on your ballroom dancing skills with lessons given by Holland America Line's experienced staff.
Piano Bar
Who can resist a piano man tickling the ivories with show tunes, ballads, and popular hits? Spend a special evening with your friends and shipmates in our classic Piano Bar. Request your favorite tune and sing along or simply sit back and enjoy the cozy, friendly atmosphere. We won’t be surprised if this venue becomes one of your favorite places onboard our ships.
Pinnacle Bar
The perfect venue for a special treat, celebration or gathering, the sumptuous Pinnacle Bar offers an experience on parallel with the Pinnacle Grill. Beautifully appointed and offering the finest wines, liquors and ocean views, the Pinnacle Bar is the ideal place to start a very special evening. Experience the elegance of the Pinnacle Bar on ms, Eurodam, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Noordam, ms Oosterdam, ms Westerdam and ms Zuiderdam.
Queen´s Lounge
When you want to enjoy drinks and great entertainment in an intimate setting, our Queen’s Lounge is the perfect venue. Reminiscent of the great night clubs of the 1930s and 40s, the Queen’s Lounge offers intimate seating and a small stage for guest seeking a classic nightclub experience. You’ll find this unique lounge/theater venue on ms Noordam, ms Zuiderdam, ms Oosterdam, ms Westerdam and ms Eurodam.
Silk Den Lounge
Step through the doors of our Pan-Asian themed Silk Den Lounge and enter another world. Resplendent with plush furnishings, beautiful lighting, and breathtaking panoramic views, the Silk Den Lounge will seduce your senses. Enjoy a cocktail before going next door to have dinner at the Tamarind Restaurant for the complete Pan-Asian experience. You’ll find the Silk Den Lounge nestled on the uppermost deck of our Signature-class ships, ms Eurodam and ms Nieuw Amsterdam.
Sports Bar
Just because you're cruising doesn’t mean you have to give up following your favorite teams. Grab a beer or your favorite drink and catch the latest sports action on ESPN International via satellite (where available). Meet up with friends for the big game or just stop by to catch the stats, either way our comfortable Sports Bar is always ready to serve up what you’re looking for.
